To reconnect communities across Dublin, Wicklow and Wexford with nature; strengthening knowledge, connection, and meaningful climate action at a local level.
Hi! I’m Alison.
East Coast Nature Network is an initiative I founded as an An Taisce Climate Ambassador and Zoology student in 2026. The aim is to strengthen people’s knowledge and connection to the nature around them across Dublin, Wicklow and Wexford.
I believe climate action starts locally.
When we understand our urban green spaces, our woodlands, and our coasts, we are far more likely to protect them. This platform exists to raise awareness, create opportunities for people to meet others who care about nature, and build a community rooted in place.
Climate change will affect everything, from the animals we see in our gardens to the food we rely on. It’s not in a distant land or an abstract concept, it’s already visible. In plants flowering earlier than they used to. In heavier downpours and longer dry spells. In warmer winters. In what grows well and what struggles to survive. Even in the price and availability of the food on our plates. You can see it in our parks, along our coasts, and outside our own front doors.
Why should this matter to you?
Because it shapes the places you walk, the wildlife your children grow up knowing, the air you breathe, and the stability of the systems that feed us. It affects the spread of invasive species and certain illnesses.
This is happening here. And it affects all of us.
It’s personal, and it’s local.
